January: "MF Walking NPCs & Faces" Progress
Happy New Year, everyone.
I will continue to strive to produce materials for the "MEGA Fantasy" series this year, and I look forward to your continued support.
So it's 2025.
Last month, I was finally able to complete "MF Walking Actors & Faces", but I have been working on "MF Walking NPCs & Faces" almost immediately.
So far, I've gone down to 8 people.
All eight of them are royalty and aristocrats related to the royal court, so they use almost 15 colors. Although it is a small pixel art, I tried to make a decorative costume.
Therefore, it may have taken longer than other NPCs.
Now that the royals are done, I may be able to pick up the pace of work even more in the future.
In the future, I thought that I would do it with a sense of volume that was conscious of the schedule, and at first it seemed that the total number would be about double the number of actors, but the total number of humanoids was reduced to 48 types + 16 types of animals, the same as the actors.
< About RPG Maker Unite>
Since the flow of this material collection so far, I will also create materials for RPG Maker Unite, but from the next material collection, I will only produce materials for "PRG Maker MV/MZ, RPG Maker VXAce, WOLF RPG Editor".
The reason for withdrawing from RPG Maker Unite is the question, "Is there a demand to make retro 2D RPGs using RPG Maker Unite in the first place?" Well, there may be people who make 2D-HD games, but... I think that the people who use Unite are basically people who want to use Unity features. Unity can also create 2D, but I think it's basically a game engine that specializes in 3D, so I feel that my materials don't fit 3D.
Or rather, the biggest reason is that the material standards are too troublesome! That's what it's all about.
It takes too much time to make it, so I can't help but think, "Is it worth it?" These days I always think that "time must be used meaningfully!", so if there are people who are using it in Unite, I am very sorry, but please note that I will be withdrawing from the production of RPG Maker Unite materials at the end of this "Walking NPCs & Faces".

This makes a lot of sense, thanks for the update. On a side note, you may also want to check out RPG Architect. It can do 3D but it also is VERY good for making 2D retro style games and your assets I think would work extremely well with it. Keep up the excellent work and I am looking forward to seeing more from the MF series, I love this style!
RPG Architect!!
Amazing, I didn't know about this app. I tried the early access version today. To be honest, I feel it has much more potential than RPG Maker UNTE! I was surprised that I can switch to 3D view with just one button! (Though I'm not sure if I can create tiles that work well in 3D...) The asset specifications seem quite flexible, so at least the assets from my previously released MEGA FANTASY series should work as is! For future assets, I'll include ones that are designed with RPG Architect in mind. Thank you for the information!
By the way, in return, let me introduce you to WOLF RPG Editor. It might not be well-known overseas. It's quite a famous 2D-specialized game engine in Japan, and interestingly, it has an English version too. Despite being called an "RPG Editor," it's actually a versatile tool that can create games of any genre except 3D.
Sounds good, I will check it out! Please be sure to drop into the RPG Architect Discord and introduce yourself if you haven't already. The developer Locke is very approachable and is also very open to feedback and suggestions. I'm in there as well and I help out with creating the sample projects. I even tried replacing the out of the box assets in the 2D template project with your 8 Bit Retro assets and they integrate quite well. Anyway, feel free to DM / Friend me on Discord and see you in there!
